Greetings, 1985 Hunterites!

We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate our 40th Reunion!!!

Date: Saturday, June 7th, from 3pm to 7pm

Location: Starchild Rooftop, atop the Civilian Hotel, 305 West 48th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue.

Price per person: $110 per person

We have survived for 40 years since graduation! Now we have a chance to reconnect and catch up in an exciting and comfortable setting.

The Starchild Rooftop lounge provides both indoor and outdoor spaces with a layout conducive to conversation. The rain or shine terrace has a retractable glass roof, the indoor spaces have A/C, and the deck has panoramic city views. They even have a few disco balls, just for old times’ sake. We will have the entire space to ourselves, with indoor, outdoor and convertible roof spaces. We will have a photo booth, some fun activities and a free raffle for a European vacation stay for two. Eat, chat, dance, don’t dance (we have curated a special playlist for the event)… or just sit, hang out and mingle with your old friends!

Plenty of heavy appetizers and food platters will be available throughout the party, including vegan and gluten free options, as well as coffee, tea, juice and soft drinks. Beer, wine, mocktails and cocktails (including a signature concoction) will be available for purchase at the cash bar.

Every effort has been made to keep the cost of this event as low as possible within the realities of Manhattan venue pricing, while ensuring a comfortable and memorable setting for our gathering. If cost is an obstacle, no one will be turned away because of financial challenge. The most important thing is that you attend, your friends want to see you! If you are in a position to contribute a little more to help offset the cost of other classmates’ tickets, there will be an opportunity to do so below, and that would be greatly appreciated.

Please note that the HCHSAA is hosting a number of events over the course of the weekend, including an auction, awards ceremony, softball game and alumnae/i dance. These are all great events, and we chose our party time to allow any of you that would like to attend do so, but ticket sales for those events and our party are completely separate. If you are not able to attend the school’s awards ceremony on Saturday morning, you’ll have the opportunity to congratulate our friend and classmate Marvin Young for his award at our party!

Class Gift

ESPIAs is traditional for milestone reunions, we are collecting donations for a Class Gift. This year, we’re especially proud to support a remarkable initiative guided in part by some of our own classmates over the years, including Amanda E., David G., Paul R., Robbi S. and Vizhier C.

ESPI: CITY SMART SCHOLARS

espi.nyc/home

The ESPI: CITY SMART SCHOLARS program provides advanced students, from low-income neighborhoods and racially isolated schools, with academic and cultural enrichment over a multi-year period. ESPI creates a community where educational opportunity can be realized. Students are given the foundations and test prep needed to gain admission to elite NYC exam schools such as Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech and Hunter College High School. They develop skills to thrive in academically intensive schools of all types.

At this time, when the value of diversity is being questioned, we ask that you consider making a gift with your classmates as a statement of just how important a diverse Hunter student population is to all of us.

Please consider a donation of $19.85, $198.50, $1985.00 or whatever amount you feel comfortable with, however modest (note that the suggested amounts in the relevant platforms are sadly not as creative as ours, so select “Other” if you want to personalize your donation). We value participation and regardless of level of contribution all donations, whether directly to ESPI or through the HCHSAA’s “School/Student Support” platform, are fully tax deductible. Regardless of which platform you choose for your donation, you will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.

The 2025 Reunion Committee:  Cat B., Chris C., Eileen M., Jon E., Katy S., Spencer G. and Thom C., with the assistance of several other Hunter classmates!
